Methodology
What this measures, and what it doesn’t.
Each panel runs four buyer questions and records which practices appear in the third-party sources AI engines ground local recommendations on — directories, review platforms, local guides, editorial best-of pages. The percentage is the share of that panel’s questions in which a practice appears.
This is a corpus index, not an engine index. It does not query ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity directly — that is what the paid Benchmark does, with sixty prompts and verbatim responses. Corpus presence is a strong leading indicator of being named, not a guarantee of it.
Extraction is automated, so a name occasionally survives that shouldn’t. If you spot one — or if your practice is missing — tell us and we’ll fix it in the next refresh.
Roughly 85% of businesses named in AI local results turn over between refreshes. A practice at the top of a panel this month may be absent next month. That volatility is the point.
